Welcome!

I am Heidi Webb and have been teaching since 1993 and am so happy to share some of the work my 5th grade students did prior to COVID. It is a template that I can revise and adapt to meet my middle schoolers' portfolio needs. I will turn to the work of brilliant Mr. Hardy to make it work.

What a busy week it has been!  Thank you everyone for supporting our school and coming out to the Board Meeting on Tuesday to honor three,
fabulous Circle View volunteers;
especially our very own Mrs. Lietz!
State Fair was a huge success.  Please see our new tab to re-visit the state stands.
May you celebrate this long weekend with your family in gratitude for those who have served and continue to serve our country.
We will be going with Mrs. Fisler's class on our StarBase field trip beginning on Tuesday.  We will return in time for lunch each day. This will be a nice change from state testing.

May 23, 2018

Our State Fair is tomorrow,
beginning at 8:30 and closing  at 9:45 in the MPR.
Please come and play
some fabulous state-themed games.
Your kids have worked hard!

May 22, 2018

Come to Spring View tonight to celebrate being Distinguished, as well as recognizing our fabulous volunteer, Daphne Lietz!

May 14, 2018

We just finished the novel, The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe.  We will be watching the movie in order to do some compare and contrast activities.  Please email me or message me if you do not want your child to watch the movie.  If I do not hear from you, I will assume it is fine for your child to watch the movie.

This Wednesday, May 16th, the 5th grade GATE students will be performing some of our Broadway Spectacular songs after school at the Volunteer Luncheon.   We will provide pizza and drinks for them if they can stay and perform.  Please pick them up by 1:30, unless you are at the luncheon.  Then you may pick them up from the Kinder playground when you finish.

The students need to start getting costumes/ items for their parts in the Broadway Spectacular that they will perform in June.  They will all need blue jeans, a white plain shirt, a dirty looking or ripped shirt, and a colorful/bright plain shirt (this can be their 5th grade school shirt).  Some of the students have lead parts, so we will tell them about other clothing or props they may need to also get for the Broadway Spectacular.  Thank you for getting all of these items by the first week in June.  The actual Broadway Spectacular performance is Wednesday, June 13th, at 8:30 a.m. in the MPR.  You do not want to miss this great show!

The students have been working hard with state research and creating Tri-folds and games for the State Fair.  The State Fair is next Thursday, May 24th from 8:30 to 9:45 in the MPR.  The students should come dressed in something related to their State along with a completed Tri-fold and State related Game.  They have had about 8 hours of time to do work in class so most of them should be almost done if they have used their time wisely.

We will continue with SBA testing next week.  Thank you for all your support.

May you be spoiled ROTTEN on Sunday!

Open House is THIS Wednesday!

April 23, 2018

The California SBA testing will start in May.  The students will be testing a few days a week between May 9th and May 25th. (I will put the specific dates on the Blog once I get that schedule) Students can go to www.caaspp.org  in order take practice tests.

The students have started research for the State Fair. The students will have class time to do research on their chosen state which they will display on a Tri-fold.  They will need to create some type of game that relates to their State and dress up related to their state. (Ex: NY – Statue of Liberty) State Fair is on May 24th from 8:30 to 9:40 a.m. in the MPR. This is a fun culmination to see. Just like Colonial Fair, you and your family may come for the entire time or just come for a few minutes, whatever your schedule allows.

We will be going to Starbase, which is the interactive STEM program, at the Los Alamitos Base.  We will be going for about 3 hours every day on May 29th, May 30th, May 31st, and June 1st.  Thank you for those who donated the $15 to help cover the buses.

We have started tryouts for our 5th grade GATE Broadway Spectacular.  We will be sending home a costume information sheet in a few weeks.  The Broadway Spectacular will be performed for the parents on Wednesday, June 13th at 8:30 a.m.  This is definitely something you want to put on your calendar and you don’t want to miss!

April 10, 2018

Come to school at the time you usually do dressed in your 5th grade t-shirt.  Take your bags to the  marquee, near the MPR, and drop them off there.  (That is why EVERYTHING gets labeled.) Don't worry which bus it gets put in as both buses are going to the same place.  Your child should have his/her backpack or drawstring bag with lunch, a reusable water bottle and anything he/she will use for entertained on the bus. Give your child a big hug and kiss and drop them off at class.  We won't be leaving until after 9 tomorrow.  It will be great and I will send a message when we arrive safely.

April 9, 2018

Welcome back!  This is going to be a GREAT week.  Everyone in our class is going to Astrocamp.  Stay healthy and pack.

Colonial Fair - The students will be starting to prepare for the Colonial Fair which will be on February 1st. Students have already chosen groups and a Colonial Job and begun research for their Colonial Store Front.  They will be building Colonial Store Fronts to represent their Colonial Jobs.  Once the students decide what they are going to use to build their Colonial Stands, they will need to bring supplies in from home.  In the past students have created their Colonial Store Fronts from cardboard, wood, and PVC. However, they are only limited to their imagination and  group consensus.  We do allow them to bring hammers, nails, and spray paint to school for this project, if needed. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

The Colonial Fair is February 1st.  Check the pictures on the Blog under the Colonial Fair Tab for examples of Colonial Store fronts students built last year.
